FAQ – How We’re Handling Things During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Ensuring the health and safety of our customers and our employees remains our top priority. We continue to focus on providing essential customer services, and we want to address the most common questions that many of you have right now.

Are you providing services right now?

Yes. Heating and cooling contractors have been deemed essential by state government. If you need any services, please contact us at (413) 534-3749 .

What hours and days are you working?

24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Is it safe to let your employees in my house?

The safety of our employees and our customers is definitely our highest priority, and diligence will be of paramount importance during these difficult times. We are paying close attention to updates from the CDC, the World Health Organization, and local health officials. We have also been proactively implementing internal procedures and protocols to ensure the health and well-being of our employees and customers.

  • We require all service technicians to be equipped with the following personal protective equipment when entering homes or businesses:
    • Sanitizing Wipes
    • Masks
    • Gloves
    • Shoe Covers
  • All service technicians are following best practices for prevention of viral transmission:
    • No personal contact, including handshakes
    • No passing of any object without it being sanitized or handled with gloves
    • We’re practicing social distancing of at least 6 feet on the job
  • If an employee is experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, and fever, we are mandating they stay home for 14 days, or seek medical attention consistent with CDC and WHO guidelines. Should there be concerns about any employee, please contact us at (413) 534-3749 .

  • We will postpone service if we encounter any situations where symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, and fever are present.

Do you provide air purification products and do they help?

Yes. We have access to indoor air quality products, including those that use ultraviolet light to eliminate bacteria, mold, allergens, and viruses that are currently being recirculated through the air in your home.  Follow this link for more information.

Also, something as simple as having us replace your filter can help reduce these unwanted contaminants too. Indoor Air Quality products are affordable, they can be very quickly installed in your existing ductwork, and they’re what many of our customers are asking for right now. We’re working with manufacturers to make sure we are well stocked to meet our customers’ needs.

One other thing to consider is that allergy season is almost here. Any breathing difficulties, sneezing, or stuffiness right now right now could be a source of great worry and uncertainty for some customers, which in turn could result in an unnecessary and potentially risky trip for medical testing.  Air quality products can help customers avoid these kind of difficult decisions right now, by reducing in-home contaminants. We want to help.

What else can I be doing now with my AC or heating system to prepare?

AC system failure during the hottest months could be not only inconvenient, but also potentially dangerous for some. It’s also something that’s often avoidable. If it’s been a few years since your AC had a tune up, system inspection and safety check, it may be time to consider having this done now before the hot weather arrives. Preventative maintenance can help you avoid a system breakdown by identifying problems before it’s too late. We’re available to do system inspections, and our technicians are adhering to CDC guidelines to ensure safety – both for their families and yours. You can feel confident when you allow our team into your home, and for many conventional air conditioning systems, we won’t have to enter your home at all.

What should I do if my heating or air conditioning breaks?

If your heating or cooling system isn’t working properly, let us know. We’ll give our customers priority service, especially if you’re at greater risk due to age or underlying health conditions. If you need help, we can be there, and as always, we’ll do everything possible to get your system running again quickly.

And while we understand the nobody is focused on a replacing a system that doesn’t need replacing right now, if your system can’t be repaired, or if you need a replacement, right now know that many of our manufacturers are offering discounts and incentives, and we can pass those savings and options along to you.

Does my Air Conditioner need Maintenance?

Why Get Maintenance for the AC System in Your Northampton Home?

Nothing is better than relaxing in a cool house on a sweltering day. You and your family rely on the air conditioning system in your Northampton home to help you weather those soaring temperatures. It works hard for you, keeping your home a cool haven from the summer heat. So you owe it to your AC to give it the TLC it deserves, by choosing annual maintenance to keep it running properly.

Annual maintenance is one of the single best ways you can ensure that your cooling system will operate at its best efficiency and will last for years to come. At Reidy Heating & Cooling, our skilled technicians can give your system the loving care it needs, so you won’t have to worry about replacing the air conditioner in your Northampton home for a long time. But what happens to an AC system that causes it to require maintenance, anyway?

Maintaining your Northampton home’s air conditioning system is important for these five reasons.

The cooling system in your Northampton home can get dirty over time. Buildup in the system can cause problems with a number of components, but when you get maintenance for your system, you won’t have to worry about it! That’s because maintenance helps take care of those issues, which helps your system run more effectively and efficiently. Here are some of the ways AC maintenance can benefit your system:

Keeping condensate drains clog-free. Over time, condensate drains in your system can accumulate dirt and debris. That can cause inefficiency, and too much humidity in your home. When you get preventive maintenance, your technician will check the drain for clogs, and clear them if there’s a buildup.

Straightening out fins. The evaporator and condenser coils in an AC system have aluminum fins, which, unfortunately, can bend easily. That obstructs the airflow in your system, making it work harder. Using a special tool, your tech will straighten the fins back out, helping the air flow freely once more.

Replacing dirty filters. It seems hard to believe that something as simple as an air filter can keep your system running better, but it’s true. When you regularly replace the dirty, gunky filters in your AC system with fresh, clean ones, the air will flow freely, letting your system operate more easily and efficiently.

Maintaining your warranty. Most people don’t read all the fine print when it comes to manufacturer warranties. But with home cooling equipment, the manufacturer often requires routine maintenance in order to keep the warranty intact – and that can save you money down the road if your system needs costly repairs.

Keeping coils clean. Your air conditioning system can collect a buildup of dirt and debris over time, and like it’s important to change your filters, it’s also important to keep the coils clean. Annual maintenance ensures your technician will check your coils on a yearly basis, and clean them as is necessary.

Reasons you may need Air Conditioner repair

How Do I Know If I Need AC Repair In My West Springfield Home?

It’s the hottest day of the year, but you’re not feeling comfortable in your West Springfield home. Your air conditioning system is running, but it’s not doing a great job of keeping your house cool. You know you need some sort of relief, but you’re not sure whether you should call in a professional or not. You may be wondering what the next step is – and that’s where Reidy Heating & Cooling comes in.

At Reidy, we can help you get your AC system back up and running promptly. Our technicians specialize in cooling repair, maintenance and installation, and they can help remedy the problem so you’ll be enjoying cool comfort in no time. But how can you be sure it’s time to call for repair services? We’ve provided some signs that your AC is failing below.

If you have any of these concerns in your West Springfield home, you could need cooling repair.

Noisy AC System: If your air conditioning system is noisier than usual, there could be a problem. Any high-pitched squeals or grinding noises should be addressed right away – turn off your air conditioner and call a professional as soon as possible.

High Utility Bills: If your AC system seems to be using more energy than normal, it means it’s working harder than usual. Have you added any space to your home? Has your system received the maintenance it needs? High utility bills can signal a problem, so contact your HVAC dealer for a system check-up.

Inadequate Cooling: If you’re noticing that certain rooms aren’t as cool as others, or if the airflow in your system isn’t delivering the cooled air throughout your West Springfield home like it should, get your system checked out. Luckily, it can be as simple as a dirty filter that needs replacing.

Humidity Problems: If your AC system is delivering air that’s too damp throughout your home, it indicates something is going on with your equipment. When air conditioning works properly, it pulls the moisture out of the air. And, over time, air that’s too humid in your home can cause mold, mildew and moisture damage.

Older AC System: If your cooling system has been breaking down a lot lately, and your system is more than 10 years old, it could be time to consider an air conditioning replacement for your West Springfield home. Often, it becomes more cost effective to replace and old system rather than continue to repair it.

Rely on Reidy for air conditioning services for your West Springfield home.

If you think the AC system in your West Springfield home is in need of repair, don’t hesitate – call Reidy Heating & Cooling to help. Our expert technicians will troubleshoot your system, and get you the repair services you need promptly so you and your family can get back to cool comfort right away. And, we’re also pleased to offer the best air conditioning installation and maintenance too. No matter what your cooling needs, you can trust Reidy to help. Just give us a call at (413) 534-3749 and we’ll be happy to assist you.

How to choose Air Conditioning for your home

What Type of Air Conditioning is Best for Your Chicopee Home?

If you’re considering replacing the AC system in your Chicopee home, you might want to do some research before you buy. Today, there are many types of air conditioning systems available, all suited to different types of homes. Often, people don’t give much thought to their air conditioning, but it helps to have a better understanding of what will work for you before you call your home comfort specialist.

Whether you’re building a house from the ground up, have a forced-air system in your home, need to cool a home without ductwork, or simply want to replace the old air conditioning system in your Chicopee home with something more efficient, you’ll find that there are a number of ways you can keep your home cool – and save on your utility bills in the process.

Three Ways You Can Cool Down Your Chicopee Home This Summer

At Reidy Heating & Cooling, we proudly provide a number of solutions for people who want to replace an old AC system or install air conditioning in their Chicopee home. All of the equipment we install is high quality and offers improved energy efficiency. And, our technicians are trained to offer the best possible service, so you can count on a job well done. Read below to learn more about the types of cooling systems we can provide:

    1. Central Air Conditioning: If you have forced air heat in your Chicopee home, or existing ductwork, central air conditioning is a great option for you. Generally, central air uses the air handler in your furnace to distribute cooled air throughout your home, allowing all the spaces that are heated in the winter to also be cooled in the summer. Today’s central air conditioning systems are highly efficient, so replacing your old central AC can often save you in cooling costs. And, modern units use a form of refrigerant that’s more efficient and doesn’t harm the ozone layer, reducing your carbon footprint.
    2. Ductless Cooling: If you have radiant or baseboard heat, or have a space in your home where ductwork installation is either impractical or impossible, you may want to consider the benefits of ductless cooling. Ductless systems offer targets cooling to your home, and are a great option for areas like additions, finished basements, or converted attics or garages. Additionally, ductless is quiet, extremely energy-efficient, and made to be mounted on the wall or ceiling, allowing it to blend in with virtually any décor. As an added benefit, many ductless systems also can provide heat in the winter – providing year-round comfort in your home.
    3. Heat Pumps: If you’re considering an update to both the heating and cooling systems in your home, you might want to consider a heat pump system. Heat pumps offer both heating and cooling, all in one efficient unit. One of the main benefits of a heat pump is that it offers amazing energy efficiency, which helps you save on your utility bills in the long run. And, with today’s advanced technology, heat pumps are able to perform well even in the colder temperatures we often experience in Chicopee, so you can count on your system running even in chilly weather.

Why Choose a Professional to Install Air Conditioning?

Reidy Heating & Cooling offers Professional AC Installation In Your Holyoke, MA Home

With numerous how-to television shows and websites out there, people all throughout Holyoke are choosing to tackle home improvement projects on their own nowadays. From wallpapering and painting, to more complex projects like installing new countertops and flooring, do-it-yourselfers everywhere are making changes to their homes without hiring a professional. Should cutting costs and installing AC yourself be one of those DIY changes?

While some projects can be accomplished after watching a few tutorials or reading some books and articles, there are some home improvements that really do require an expert. Installing a cooling system in your Holyoke home is definitely one of them. There are several reasons why you should consult a professional like Reidy Heating & Cooling when it comes to your home comfort system.

Five Reasons You Need an HVAC Pro When Installing Cooling in Your Holyoke Home

For many people, the reason they choose to tackle projects on their own is to save some money. And while that works with some areas, HVAC isn’t one. Some worry about the cost of installing air conditioning, but it can be far more expensive in the long run to install AC improperly. Your home’s cooling system is pretty complex, and one that requires professional service. Here are a few reasons why hiring a pro is to your benefit:

    1. Air conditioners are mechanical equipment. AC units have motors, fans, blades, electrical components and intricate wiring. To fully understand what’s required to properly service them, advanced training is required. Reputable air conditioning technicians have generally attended trade school, receive ongoing training, and serve apprenticeships before being considered masters at their craft.
    2. Your home’s HVAC system is complex. A lot goes into the proper function of the comfort system in your Holyoke home. In our region, people rely on both heating and cooling to stay comfortable, and most people have systems that work somewhat in tandem. Making sure that your entire HVAC system is working in harmony isn’t simple, which is why you need a professional to keep it operating properly.
    3. Home comfort professionals are specially trained. As mentioned above, home comfort technicians are educated in the field of HVAC and understand the inner workings of your equipment, much like your mechanic knows your vehicle. Most technicians are continually learning more, as technology advances and new equipment types enter the market. Many are also factory-trained on the brands their company installs.
    4. Sizing of your system is important. You might not be aware of this – many people aren’t – but generally speaking, air conditioners are not a one-size-fits-all type of equipment. Every home is unique, as are the needs of the people living in it. Sizing your equipment properly is important, because it helps the equipment last longer and offers better energy efficiency.
    5. Cooling equipment requires ongoing service. The air conditioning system in your Holyoke home isn’t just “set it and forget it.” In order to ensure that it works properly now and for years to come, and provides you with the best energy efficiency possible, getting yearly maintenance from a professional is necessary. (Hint: many equipment manufacturers require annual service in order to keep your warranty intact, too.)

Don’t DIY! Call Reidy when you need cooling for your Holyoke home.

Why Do I Need Air Conditioning? The Benefits of Maintaining a Climate-Controlled Holyoke, MA Home with AC

At Reidy, we know a thing or two about the importance of regulated temperatures and air quality, and we want to make sure every customer knows why they should invest in an air conditioning solution. Sometimes, people ask us this question. Do you need A/C to survive in the summer? Not exactly, but air conditioning provides a number of benefits that many homeowners overlook when considering the investment.

The most important issue is humidity. Holyoke gets hot, and the air gets humid. Proper air conditioning keeps your home regulated, and fights humidity concerns that affect not only your belongings and your home itself, but also your family’s health and wellbeing.

Do you have expensive electronic devices? Maybe you even enjoy nice artwork such as pottery or paintings. You might have wooden cabinets or moldings in your home. Air conditioning is absolutely necessary to ensuring that those belongings are protected. There’s a reason that museums and electronics retailers keep such a close eye on the thermostat and humidity levels – excess humidity causes damage to the products. A good A/C unit will help to protect the things you’ve already spent your hard-earned money on.

More than 25 million people in the U.S. have been diagnosed with asthma. That’s not even counting the number of people who have other, everyday breathing difficulties. Keep your family healthy with clean air, and use an air conditioning system. By minimizing the humidity levels in your home through A/C, you are minimizing the number of mold spores, allergens, and dusty, dirty air particles that live in your home.

Extreme temperature changes are also bad for your immune system. In the hot Holyoke summers, A/C is incredibly important. Sweating or discomfort is your body’s way of telling you that it needs to cool down – listen to it! An air conditioner will keep your home at the right temperature, all day.

At Reidy Heating & Cooling, we want you to be informed. We want you to know that the right air conditioner or air conditioning solution is a worthwhile investment for every homeowner, because it has the ability to extend the life of your belongings and help to keep your family healthy and comfortable.

Reidy Heating & Cooling is based in Holyoke, Massachusetts and serves surrounding areas including Chicopee, Southampton, Easthampton, and South Hadley. You can trust our certified A/C technicians to provide the highest quality air conditioning service or installation.

What do you do when you need A/C repair?

Choose the right company for your Holyoke home this summer.

Air conditioner breakdowns are no joke during a classic Holyoke, MA summer, because it’s getting hot! You need your air conditioning to work perfectly, but where do you start when you need a repair?

First, you need to make sure you have a company you can trust. When you don’t know much about air conditioning repair, you rely on the company you hire to have the skills and the integrity to help you make informed decisions and provide you with the highest quality service.

Second, make sure they know what they’re doing. For example, at Reidy Heating and Cooling, our heating and air conditioning service technicians are highly trained and NATE-certified, which means they can work on virtually any system even if they didn’t do the initial installation.

Third, check to see if they’re full service. At Reidy, we provide more than just the best air conditioning repair services. We also can do regular maintenance or replacement units if the situation requires it. Don’t worry – we will help you decide which option is right for you and your budget.

The bottom line is, air conditioner repair doesn’t have to be a stressful process when you choose the right company and you know what to look for.
